Jesus Calling PDF Download. Download free ebook of Jesus Calling in PDF format or read online by Sarah Young 9781400320110 Published on 2013-01-09 by Thomas Nelson Inc

In this new and beautiful edition designed specifically for women, missionary Sarah Young brings uniquely inspired devotions for every day of the year. After many years of writing in her prayer journal, missionary Sarah Young decided to listen to God with pen in hand, writing down whatever she believed He was saying to her. It was awkward at first, but gradually her journaling changed from monologue to dialogue. She knew her writings were not inspired as Scripture is, but journaling helped her grow closer to God. Others were blessed as she shared her writings, until people all over the world were using her messages. These devotions are written from Jesus' point of view, thus the title Jesus Calling. It is Sarah's fervent prayer that our Savior may bless readers with His presence and His peace in ever deeper measure. This new edition, created in a lovely package for women, will help more readers discover the incredible peace found in the presence of Jesus.

Christian Doctrine, Christian Identity PDF Download. Download free ebook of Christian Doctrine, Christian Identity in PDF format or read online by Christopher J. Thompson 9780761815518 Published on 1999 by University Press of America

Christian Doctrine, Christian Identity is an elegant study of Augustine's Confessions, a classic narrative of Christian experience written 1600 years ago. With insights concerning character, the development of integrity and the organic nature of moral experience, Confessions provides an excellent example for those wishing to promote a narrative approach to Christian theology. In this book, Christopher Thompson investigates the impact of Augustine's work on leading figures in narrative ethics, including MacIntyre, Hauerwas, Stroup, and Crites. He then considers Confessions on the subject of Creation and discusses the influence of this important theological theme on the nature of Christian identity. By considering contemporary narrative ethics in light of Augustine's reflections, Thompson eloquently reveals that a doctrine of creation is essential for truly understanding the meaning of life. Theologians and other religious scholars will find much to their liking in this thought-provoking study.

On Christian Teaching PDF Download. Download free ebook of On Christian Teaching in PDF format or read online by Saint Augustine (Bishop of Hippo.),R. P. H. Green 9780192839282 Published on 1999 by Oxford University Press, USA

B`There are certain rules for interpreting the scriptures which, as I am well aware, can usefully be passed on to those with an appetite for such study...' On Christian Teaching is one of Augustine's most important works on the classical tradition. Written to enable Christian students to be their own interpreters of the Bible, it provides an outline of Christian theology, a detailed discussion of ethical problems, and a fascinating early contribution to sign theory. Augustine alsomakes a systematic attempt to determine what elements of classical education are permissible for a Christian, and in the last book suggests ways in which Ciceronian rhetorical principles may help in communicating the faith. This long-needed, completely new and up-to-date translation gives a close but stylish representation of Augustine's thought and expression. References to the classical background are carefully explained and Roger Green's introduction describes the aims and circumstances of the work, and outlines its influence on major figures in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.

Recovering Nineteenth-century Women Interpreters of the Bible PDF Download. Download free ebook of Recovering Nineteenth-century Women Interpreters of the Bible in PDF format or read online by Christiana De Groot,Marion Ann Taylor 9781589832206 Published on 2007 by Society of Biblical Lit

Women have been thoughtful readers and interpreters of scripture throughout the ages, yet the standard history of biblical interpretation includes few womens voices. To introduce readers to this untapped source for the history of biblical interpretation, this volume analyzes forgotten works from the nineteenth century written by womenincluding Christina Rossetti, Florence Nightingale, and Harriet Beecher Stowe, among othersfrom various faith backgrounds, countries, and social classes engaging contemporary biblical scholarship. Due to their exclusion from the academy, womens interpretive writings addressed primarily a nonscholarly audience and were written in a variety of genres: novels and poetry, catechisms, manuals for Bible study, and commentaries on the books of the Bible. To recover these nineteenth-century women interpreters of the Bible, each essay in this volume locates a female author in her historical, ecclesiastical, and interpretive context, focusing on particular biblical passages to clarify an authors contributions as well as to explore how her reading of the text was shaped by her experience as a woman. The contributors are Amanda Benckhuysen, Elizabeth Davis, Christiana de Groot, Rebecca G. S. Idestrom, Donna Kerfoot, Bernon P. Lee, Marion Taylor, Heather Weir, and Lissa M. Wray Beal.

The Gutenberg Bible of 1454 PDF Download. Download free ebook of The Gutenberg Bible of 1454 in PDF format or read online by Stephan Fussel 9783836562218 Published on 2018 by

The Book That Changed the World A complete reprint of the revolutionary Gutenberg Bible The printing press has been called the greatest invention of the second millennium. Published in Mainz around 1454, the Gutenberg Bible was the first major Western publication to be printed with movable metal type, ushering in a whole new age of knowledge distribution through mass-produced books. Before Gutenberg, woodcut printing and early forms of movable type printing had been mastered in Asia, but had yet to reach Europe. Instead, each book had to be copied by hand in a long, labor-intensive process. Not only did Gutenberg's innovation of mechanical movable type significantly speed up production without sacrificing quality, it irreversibly enriched public knowledge, pioneering mass communication and allowing people to access ideas and participate in discussions like never before. When it comes to radical revolutions in media, the Gutenberg Bible is up there with the Internet. This fascimile edition derives from one of the very few surviving complete vellum Latin originals worldwide; the Göttingen Library edition, one of the most valuable books in the world, listed in the UNESCO Memory of the World program. All 1,282 pages of this artistic and technological masterwork are included, along with a companion book written by Stephan Füssel, Gutenberg-Chair at Mainz University, introducing Gutenberg, his transformative influence, and two important documents of the time: the Göttingen Model Book which was used to illuminate the Göttingen Library edition and the only surviving notary document by Ulrich Helmasperger, which records the history of this unique invention and its product, the Gutenberg Bible.
